About Kevin Legge
Who am I? Good question.
My name is Kevin Legge and I currently reside in Moira, a small village in upstate New York. I was born in Waterbury, Connecticut in 1964 and have lived in New Mexico, Arizona, California, Georgia, Connecticut, and New York. Due to my father traveling for his job and taking my mother, sister, and me with him, the only states that I haven’t visited are Alaska, Hawaii, and Maine.
At the age of 8 I discovered the joys of writing. It didn’t matter what I wrote – poetry, short stories, haiku – just that I wrote. I’ve kept up the writing off-and-on for all of these years as a hobby until recently my girlfriend, Jackie – who is an amazing and wonderful woman – convinced me to submit some of my work to online magazines.
The result? The online magazine, Cattails, is going to publish a couple of my haiku moments in an upcoming edition. Jackie says that it is my talent, but I say that it is due to being inspired and motivated by her and her two wonderful sons, Carl and Sam.
I have known two gentle souls with Asperger’s Syndrome and my poems of autism are based on what I’ve seen, heard, and felt. Some say that I’m in touch with my feminine side, and that may be true. It is true, also, that this isn’t such a bad thing as it gives one an empathy towards people, especially people who are hurting physically, mentally, or emotionally. I feel for these people. I may not experience their pain, but I do know that they are in pain, and my natural impulse is to try to heal them and take that pain away.
Am I successful? Sometimes.
